THE NOVITA TEAM

Novita yarns and wool are manufactured in a spinning mill in Koria, near Kouvola. Relocated from Helsinki to Koria in 1974. Koria supplies the world with 10 million balls of yarn every year. The total length of the yarn produced could wrap around the globe some twenty times. The million kilograms – or ten million balls – of yarn made every year is enough to knit a pair of woollen socks for every person living in Finland.

Our mill is a leader in the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency. We use EKOenergia wind energy. The heat generated in the dyeing process is recovered and used for pre-heating the water required for the subsequent dye batches.

We pay close attention to the working conditions, occupational health, safety and ergonomics in all our departments. The average service age of our staff is exceptionally long and we are proud of our committed staff that represents both genders and age brackets. The Novita team consists of a wide range of different professionals: designers, machine operators, business directors, dyers, spinners and quality control officers.

Novita yarns and knitting patterns are designed in Finland. Our patterns carry the Design From Finland label. The design team utilises WSGN trend forecasts and keeps a close eye on global developments in the crafts industry.

Quality assurance is a critical element in the process, as it ensures our compliance with the ISO standard. During quality assurance, the yarns are tested for pilling, washability and colour retention.
