WHERE DOES THE WOOL USED BY NOVITA COME FROM?

The wool we use mainly comes from areas near Finland, such as Norway and the UK. The UK is an important wool producer worldwide. Novita’s long-term partner in the UK is West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS).

Our English wool is sourced from Shropshire, Hampshire and Dorset Down –breeds, among others. These breed produce fine wool, which makes it particularly suitable for hand knitting!

Novita also uses Finnish wool in its yarns. The Finnish wool we use comes from sheep farms around Finland. Since 2014, we have used 30,000kg of Finnish wool in our production! Read more about Novita and Finnish wool.

Finnish wool is used in Novita 7 Veljestä (7 Brothers) Pohjola, in which 30% of the wool is sourced from Finland.

MERINO WOOL

Novita’s merino wool is also sourced from the EU. Merino wool is particularly fine and therefore also well suited for knits for children and babies. We never use merino wool that has been produced using the mulesing procedure.

Our 100% merino wools are Novita Baby Wool and Novita Baby Merino. In addition, Novita Wool Cotton contains 50% merino wool.
