Back

Using the smaller needles and Moomintroll, cast on 70(74)78(82)86 sts and work 4 cm of ribbing.

Switch to the larger needles. Work in stockinette st, alternating 2 rows of Snorkmaiden and 2 rows of Moomintroll.

When the piece measures 25(27)29(31)34 cm, bind off 1x3 sts at both ends for the armholes. Decrease 4x1 st at both ends on every 2nd row: on a RS row k2, skp (= slip 1 knitwise, k1, pass the slipped st over), work to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. 56(60)64(68)72 sts now on the needles.

When the armhole measures 11(12)13(14)15 cm, bind off the middle 24(24)26(26)26 sts for the neckline. Work one side at a time. Bind off 1x2 sts at the neckline edge.

When the armhole measures 13(14)15(16)17 cm, bind off the 14(16)17(19)21 shoulder sts.

Work the other side in the same manner.

Right front

Using the smaller needles and Moomintroll, cast on 33(35)37(39)41 sts and work 4 cm of ribbing.

Switch to the larger needles. Work in stockinette st, alternating 2 rows of Snorkmaiden and 2 rows of Moomintroll.

When the piece measures 25(27)29(31)34 cm, bind off 1x3 sts at the right end for the armhole. Decrease 4x1 st at the right end on every other row: on a RS row k2, skp, work to end. 26(28)30(32)34 sts now on the needles.

When the armhole measures 6(7)8(9)10 cm, leave the first 7(7)8(8)8 sts at the left end on hold for the neckline. Decrease 5x1 sts at the neckline edge on every 2nd row: work to last 4 sts of a RS row, k2tog, k2. 14(16)17(19)21 sts now on the needles.

When the armhole measures 13(14)15(16)17 cm, bind off the 14(16)17(19)21 shoulder sts.

Left front

Work in the same manner as on the right front until the piece measures 25(27)29(31)34 cm.

Bind off 1x3 sts at the left end for the armhole. Decrease 4x1 sts at the left end on every 2nd row: work to last 4 sts of a RS row, k2tog, k2. 26(28)30(32)34 sts now on the needles.

When the armhole measures 6(7)8(9)10 cm, leave the first 7(7)8(8)8 sts at the right end on hold for the neckline. Decrease 5x1 st at the neckline edge on every 2nd row: on a RS row k2, skp, work to end. 14(16)17(19)21 sts now on the needles.

When the armhole measures 13(14)15(16)17 cm, bind off the 14(16)17(19)21 shoulder sts.

Sleeves

Using the smaller needles and Moomintroll, cast on 39(39)41(41)43 sts and work 4 cm of ribbing.

Switch to the larger needles. Work in stockinette st, alternating 2 rows of Snorkmaiden and 2 rows of Moomintroll.

Note: When the piece measures 7(7)7(5)6 cm, increase 1 st at both ends. Repeat the increases every 3,5(3)3(2,5)2,5 cm 6(8)9(12)13 more times = 53(57)61(67)71 sts.

When the piece measures 29(31)34(36)39 cm, bind off 1x3 sts at both ends. Decrease 4x1 st at both ends on every 2nd row: on a RS row k2, skp, work to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. Bind off the remaining sts.

Knit the other sleeve in the same manner.

Finishing

Pin the pieces to measurements, mist on the wrong side and allow to dry.

Sew the shoulder seams.

Neckline edge: Using the smaller needles and Willowherb, pick up and knit the sts on hold as well as additional sts from the neckline edge for a total of 84(84)86(86)88 sts. Work 2 cm of ribbing, then bind off in pattern.

Attach the sleeves following the red markings on the pattern.

Sew the sleeve seams and side seams.

Buttonband: Using Willowherb and the smaller needles, pick up sts from the RS of left front piece, 20 sts per 10 cm (the stitch count must be divisible by 2 + 1 st). Work in ribbing. When the border measures 2 cm, finish on a WS row, then loosely bind off in pattern so the buttonband won't be too tight.

Place markers for buttons on the border, the topmost marker 1,5 cm from the neckline edge, the lowest one 1,5 cm from the hem and the other 5 in between, evenly spaced. Work the right border in the same manner. When the border measures approx. 1 cm, work buttonholes at the spots you marked. Buttonhole: yarn over, k2tog/p2tog.

Sew on the buttons.
